Hello everyone

Someone I know lives on a farm in Proven where there was a camp during WW1.                                                                                                                He is interested in what exactly was there.
The homestead was called Spring Farm.
Reference: 27.E.18.d.3.0
I'd like to know which unit was there.
Can you help?
All information is welcome.

Greetings Arne

Many allied units would have passed through.

The area looks like a railhead.

I myself found all this map in attachment.
Has anyone here ever come across the name Spring Farm in a WD or something?

As far as I can make out from a map in the 1917 WD of 18 Corps A&QMG (WO 95/954/2) (p 7/95) Spring Farm might just have been in the St Jan Ter Beizen area B and in the July 1917 papers there is a list of Horse Standings and Wagon Lines for various Units (p 59/95). This shows 14 Corps Cavalry at E 18 d 5 0. I presume this is map 27 because any references for map 28 begin with 28. I had a look in the 1917 WD of 14 Corps A&QMG but could not find any confirmation other than 14 Corps cavalry were to become GHQ Troops from 10/07/1917 and 1/1 Lancashire Hussars were to move from 8 Corps to 14 Corps by 15/07/1917. It's possible that in July 1917 Spring Farm was used by cavalry troops.

Thank you,

What did the cavalry troops do?
Did they have a particular job during WW1?
