Alan24 Posted 10 August , 2021 Share Posted 10 August , 2021 (edited) Haven't seen it elsewhere here, on the forum, but just read that Ancestry.com have purchased the the content of Forces War Records from its owners, Clever Digital Media. Not sure how old this news is but the blurb says they want to link it with their other military records - I'm taking that to mean they will put it up on Ancestry rather than Fold3. Keith_history_buff Posted 10 August , 2021 Share Posted 10 August , 2021 This was quietly announced on Monday 24 May.
RaySearching Posted 10 August , 2021 Share Posted 10 August , 2021 Cynical as usual I suspect Ancestry will continue to run Forces war records as a stand alone military records site no mention anywhere, that the records of Forces war records are being merged on Ancestry
rksimpson Posted 10 August , 2021 Share Posted 10 August , 2021 It would help if Ancestry added the original documents that FWR have transcribed, I distrust transcriptions alone. Then it may be of value to do a 1 month subscription and go nuts downloading everything I am interested in. If not, well then, yawn...
Terry_Reeves Posted 13 August , 2021 Share Posted 13 August , 2021 Quite Interesting. FWR have not had access to any substantial records. Most of their business has been through already officially published records. TR
