Stevend Posted 7 August , 2021 Posted 7 August , 2021 Pte.H Anderson number 2444. Was in the 5th coy Labour corps. He was initially with the Black Watch I am looking to find out if he was wounded or for what reason he may have been transferred to the Labour corp. He is listed as died on 1st June 1917. Any help to fill in the gaps is appreciated Steven
Admin kenf48 Posted 7 August , 2021 Admin Posted 7 August , 2021 His R. Highlanders (Black Watch) number was S/14464. The service record of S/14656 Adair (Glasgow) attested January 1916 (extended Derby Scheme?), Posted to Army Reserve and mobilised to 3rd Royal Scots 11/4/1916. He was posted to 12th Black Watch (Labour Bn.) on 27 May 1916, on or around its formation and transferred and renumbered to 5 Labour Coy Labour Corps 14/5/1917, again when the 12th Battalion became 5 Coy (See LLT). Also S/14469 Benzier also Derby Scheme - 3rd Royal Scots etc. Like your man also from Aberdeenshire (Aberdeen). No doubt you can find others in the series from the Medal Rolls. As no other unit shown on the Roll doubt Pte Anderson was wounded but suspect he was placed in a downgraded medical category after initial mobilisation.
