MaxD Posted 4 August , 2021 Share Posted 4 August , 2021 (edited) The Ancestry search area requires you to know what division a battalion/regiment are in. Note by the way the regiment's title Princess Charlotte of Wales's (Royal Berkshire Regiment) so Ancestry on the face of it wants Regiment Princess Charlotte etc and Division 8. However, they don't give the 8th Division as one of the Div choices. Some, and it is the case here, battalions are in a brigade diary as you see from jonbem's latest post. The entry required is Various Infantry Bridages 8th Division (their spelling) He then has found 2 Berks diary at the National Archives (they are less picky about titles and 2 Berkshire WO 95) would do. Search 2 Berkshire WO 95 brings up what jonbem has posted. In the Ancestry war diaries search enter 1729 and nothing else and you just need to scroll through the diary to find 2 Berks at the time of interest.
