anyone can help me to give me additional information about Pte William Hennessy, Army Cyclist Corps (n°4470) then West Riding Regiment (n°22923) ? Birth date, ...

Two MIC and Medal Rolls - as HENNESSY and HENNESSEY - Hennessy given as his true surname.

1914-15 Star, British War Medal and Victory Medal - First Theatre of War (1) France 13.7.15

Hennessy and Hennessey: MR shows Discharged to Army Z Reserve 23.2.19

Hennessy: Pension Index Card at WFA/Fold3 - very few details - shows he made an unspecified  disability pension claim in Region 11 [South East England]

Service record on FMP the original paperwork is not in great condition.

 

Originally attested Lancashire Fusiliers 5065

Born 1879 Preston, Lancashire

Living Galashiels, Selkirkshire, Scotland.

Previous service in Royal Navy.

My "William Hennessy" belonged to Army Cyclist Corps, and I would like to know when he belonged to this corps ... and where he lived after war can you help me ?

Thanks a lot ; so he was transfered from 10th Lancashire Fusiliers to 17th Divisional Cyclist Corps at 6/7/1915 ? If I read correctly ;)

Yes

From his Dispersal Certificate his address is 26 Moxon Terrace, Old lane, Halifax.

His next of kin is his brother Joseph a postman from Preston

1901, 1911, Census

5, St Joseph’s Terrace, Preston, Lancashire.

Possible mother Margaret b. 1854 Ireland from 1901 Census.

Hope this helps I have to go now.

Short Service Attestation with Lancashire Fusiliers, 29 August 1914, #5067

Aged 32 Born English Marches, Preston, Lancashire.

Ex-Royal Navy - discharged, Trade: Rigger

Joined Bury 29.8.14 & posted LF [seem like 10 LF]

Transferred ACC (17th Div) 23-2-15 #4470

To BEF France 13-7-15

Transferred to 9 WRR 22-5-16 #22923

Appointed paid LCpl 3-9-16 - lost it 18-11-16 for misconduct

To Home 6-7-17 GSW Scalp (mild), Hospital 7-4-17

9 WRR Leave 21-7-17 to 30-7-17 at 34 Maple St, Great Harwood, near Blackburn

Over the years quite a long record of absence, misconduct and other disciplinary offences at home and o/s - drink appears involved several times - resulting in stoppage of pay, detention, Field Punishment No 2 and that lost stripe along the way.

From 3 WRR transferred to Army Z Reserve 15-2-19 and made a disability pension claim [outcome unknown]
