PaulC78 Posted 24 July , 2021 Posted 24 July , 2021 Looking for any info regarding the following man on CWGC who apparently died on 3 Feb 1921 and is buried at Shifnal: https://www.cwgc.org/find-records/find-war-dead/casualty-details/393721/H P WILLIAMS/ According to the medal rolls he was Phillip Henry Williams, but I can't find any other records for him and without knowing his age or family details I'm not sure where to look. I suspect there may be a case of misidentification though, as the pension records for Harry Phillip Williams 200619 KSLI indicate that he was from Shifnal and died on the same date. The medal rolls for each man suggest that they were separate individuals.

His commemoration at Shifnal (St Andrew) [Screen Wall] - bottom right :-) M Edited 24 July , 2021 by Matlock1418 clarification

ss002d6252 Posted 24 July , 2021 Posted 24 July , 2021 The pension certainly shows that 200619 was certainly KSLI at the time of discharge as the MDE code is that used for them. South Staffs would start MB (probably MBD). The only Shropshire death in the relevant period for a HP Williams was Craig
ss002d6252 Posted 24 July , 2021 Posted 24 July , 2021 #200691 was Harry Philips Williams as per the SWB. Age 23 when he was discharged in June 1919https://www.ancestry.co.uk/imageviewer/collections/2456/images/wo329_3097-00405?treeid=&personid=&hintid=&queryId=0ceea34ed2b078e4659b344b46963fa6&usePUB=true&_phsrc=AaS40&_phstart=successSource&usePUBJs=true&pId=428039 He'd be 25 at the time of death. Craig

Births Jun 1896 (>99%) Williams Harry Phillips Wellington, Sh. 6a 730 He wouldn't be 25 until the June Quarter of 1921, so he would still be only 24 on 3rd February 1921. (He would have been born at the earliest February 17th 1896 - legally possible to be registered within 6 weeks, and be registered in the April-June quarter. More likely to be well after this date though.) Edited 24 July , 2021 by Dai Bach y Sowldiwr
PaulC78 Posted 26 July , 2021 Author Posted 26 July , 2021 Thanks all, that confirms what I've found so far. I don't think it will be enough for CWGC though, I might have to fork out for the DC.
