david bush Posted 24 July , 2021 Posted 24 July , 2021 I know this may sound like a stupid question but can someone explain the hierarchy of the RFA. I don't understand the difference between a Battery, Brigade, Division etc.
David Porter Posted 24 July , 2021 Posted 24 July , 2021 Here is a rather simplistic overview: One gun = A Sub-Section Two guns = A Section RFA Battery (4 guns) = Left and Right Sections RFA Battery (6 guns) = Left, Centre and Right Sections RFA Brigade = Two or more Batteries (plus an Ammunition Column up to May 1916) Divisional RFA = Two or more Brigades (plus an Ammunition Column which absorbed the BAC) The Corps Artillery usually had more than one Divisional Artillery at its disposal
