Uvf lapel badge

This was my husbands great uncles lapel badge the number on the back is cs6998 could anyone help to let him know what area this was from and was it linked to his name thank u

Such badges were reproduced throughout the troubles I’m afraid so it’s very difficult to pin them down unless there’s direct and traceable provenance.  I have an identical one myself given to me as a souvenir in 1970s West Belfast.

This was at his aunts house since year dot *** and she never moved house do you not think it original then

Hi Jennifer,

Looking back through some old forum threads, it appears that CS stands for the South Belfast Regiment UVF, (CS being City south).  Does that fit with what you know?

I’m not saying it’s not original Jennifer, just that it’s been reproduced identically so you need to know it’s been continually in possession since WW1 to be sure of its provenance.  I hope that makes sense.
