Moonraker Posted 3 July , 2021 Share Posted 3 July , 2021 I'm prejudiced of course, but I thought that this ten-minute clip was rather good. It does illustrate the dull routine of a monarch's life, with a long line of worthies being fleetingly introduced. At one point during the medal presentation (?) the King does appear to lose interest. A couple of sloppy salutes and I noted the use on parade of walking-sticks by ORs. The ground looked very wet for the men to sit on. Features: Colonel V. S. Smyth; Brigadier F. E. Johnston; General Sir Alexander Godley; Brigadier General George Richardson; General Sir Ian Hamilton; Brigadier-General Herbert Hart; William Massey; Sir Joseph Ward; Sir Thomas Mackenzie; Christina Massey; Lady Ward, Major T. R. Eastward; Major C. B. Brereton.
sassenach Posted 3 July , 2021 Share Posted 3 July , 2021 Very interesting. One of those "I wonder what happened to them" items.
Kimberley John Lindsay Posted 3 July , 2021 Share Posted 3 July , 2021 Dear Moonraker. A good memorial to the NZEF efforts. I think you will find that the White-Banded soldiers (at least one of whom got a medal) carrying officer-type walking sticks, were Officer Cadets. Kindest regards, Kim.
