This generally means the claim was dead, not necessarily the man [though of course he could have been!] - annotated 27/6/21 if I read it correctly

Most of my sources are down today [for unknown reason/period] however his MIC should offer a Medal Roll for his BWM & VM - likely the latter would have Bn(s)

Also a SWB List - might be there

You have obviously got this from somewhere else - Does that other source perhaps give a DoB?

203012 William Pedley is in the medal roll as 8 North Staffs. Pair only.

SWB roll also states 8 N Staffs 12-2-15 to 28-2-18. Aged 40 on discharge

Appears on War Office Daily List No.5395 date 20/10/17.

Mark, again thanks for the help, excuse my ignorance relating to the war office list, is this when reported wounded and why or how is he listed with a different number, same chap etc ???

Ok, think we perhaps need a review of that card.

Please can you post an image of the card.

You can hold on that if you wish.

I have located it on WFA/Fold3 - the curse of Ancestry transcriptions - they have got his number transcribed as 2020112 on a pension ledger index card! [Now changed}

Seems he got a final award of £20 at an unclear date after 30.1.22 [?]

I think that probably rules out a possible 1920 death entry I was looking at!!

Yes the transcription number is wrong,

I'm intrigued at Mark's post, quote,

Appears on War Office Daily List No.5395 date 20/10/17.

5395 is the list number not his regimental number. Just looking at the NLS weekly version. At the moment cannot find him in the N Staffs lists for 20/10/17.

Right hand column in alphabetical order.

If SWB roll is right born c1878.
