knittinganddeath Posted 10 June , 2021 Share Posted 10 June , 2021 A Sunday in Russia 20 August 1917 26.8.17 Dear Brother! I received your dear card, which pleased me very much and for which I thank you most heartily. I see from it that you are still doing very well, and I can say that the same is also true for me. Then you wrote that you still don't know if/when you will get your leave. I also don't know if/when I will get my leave but I think it will be in October. Dear brother, here is a picture of our shelter and there in the middle sits Jakob Hoffman; you will recognize me. Dear brother, you were going to send me a picture of you and your horse. Otherwise there's nothing new to write. I'm still healthy and cheerful and hope that you are too. Warm greetings from your brother Jakob Hoffmann

There is nothing written on the card but if you can make high res scans of the shoulder straps I have marked, it may just be possible to identify the regiment.
