Liverpool Rifles, a Territorial Force (auxiliary part time soldiers) battalion of the regular Kings (Liverpool) Regiment.  Like all Territorial Force infantry battalions their origin was as units of the citizens “Rifle Volunteer Corps” that formed nationally in 1859, with units in towns, boroughs and cities across Britain and the Empire too.  During WW1 its title was 6th Battalion Kings Liverpool Regiment - Territorial Force - The Liverpool Rifles.  Like many units styled as rifles they wore black badges and buttons.

Thankyou very much for your help. An excellent and very informative description.

I shall research this and learn more about their journey during the war.

Very much appreciated.

David.
