Ivor Anderson Posted 24 May , 2021 Author Share Posted 24 May , 2021 His 1915 star was returned in 1923 and a CRV (certified receipt voucher?) was issued for it in February 1924 (Ancestry roll image). His war and victory medals are still with their original issue boxes:

Ivor Anderson Posted 27 May , 2021 Author Share Posted 27 May , 2021 Algernon's MM is mentioned in the son's 1945 CWGC entry: "Son of L. Cpl. Algernon Roland Lane, M.M., Royal Engineers, killed in action 1st October, 1917", so the family knew about its awarding and presumably received it. It hopefully still exists somewhere? Algernon's 1915 star seems to have been returned in 1923 (possibly due to a change of address?) and a CRV (certified receipt voucher?) was issued for it in February 1924 (Ancestry roll image). I do not see any evidence of its reissue? Q. Checking: was a 'CRV' a medal office receipt for the returned medal, or a receipt from the family for its reissue in 1924? (Ancestry image).
