Remembered Today:

ARTHUR HENRY POLAIN 11th Welch Regiment

Hi. Looking for any information that would point me as to where 47293 Pte Arthur Henry Polain was born. He served with the 11th Welch Regiment in Salonika and forces war records states that he was wounded GSW ankle during the second Battle of Doiran 18.9.1918. I have his MIC and medal roll which states he was entitled to the war and victory medals. There are a couple of Arthur Henry Polain, one of which was born in Tower Hamlets in 1887 but not sure this is my man. Thank you.

When he was wounded 1918 his age (per Hospital Admission) was 31 ie 1887 birth fits

Cas List gives home town/place of Enlistment as (Bow E) so your find looks good.

There is at least one comprehensive tree on Ancestry but the usual caveat- double check everything
