Guest Posted 22 April , 2021 Share Posted 22 April , 2021 I’m hoping someone can shed light on this uniform. I’ve been told it was given as an honorary position in WWl. I’m quite sure he never served. William Hynam, architect in London b 29 May 1869 d 19 Feb 1945 thanks in advance for any assistance 😊

He had previously been a Captain in the Reserve of Officers. His mention in the London Gazette is here;- https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/30247/supplement/8685 His initial commission, as 2nd Lieutenant in the 17th {North} Middlesex Volunteer Battalion on 5th December 1894 is here;- https://www.thegazette.co.uk/London/issue/26576/page/7127 Regards, Alf McM
FROGSMILE Posted 22 April , 2021 Share Posted 22 April , 2021 In the photo I think he’s wearing an officers’ bronze general service list cap badge, which is entirely correct for the period when he rejoined the Army from the RoO.
