JMB1943 Posted 17 April , 2021 Share Posted 17 April , 2021 What is the source of these lovely words? If this were deemed my final day, I wonder what I ought to say. A thousand thoughts would cross my mind For loved ones I must leave behind. So seize this chance and beat the knell. To dear ones leave a fond farewell. My final wish; to see you smile. Be proud! Your lives made mine worthwhile. I’ve envied no other his wealth or his life, For none have my children, grandchildren, or wife. I’d alter not a thing about this novice race I ran, But next time, try for all of you to be a better man. Regards, JMB
neverforget Posted 17 April , 2021 Share Posted 17 April , 2021 JMB, I had a serious health scare a few years ago and thought that I would like to write a few words to my family, i.e. my wife, children, and grandchildren. I'm touched that you should see fit to enquire. Happily they haven't got to read them as yet. 😊
JMB1943 Posted 17 April , 2021 Author Share Posted 17 April , 2021 (edited) Never forget, Many thanks for writing this poem. Although I am in good health, touch wood, I have had more than my three-score years and ten! I am not nearly as good with words as are you, but your words describe my feelings exactly. Have left a request with my wife to have my son read your words, when that time comes. All best wishes & stay well. [edit: Of course, only with your permission to appropriate your words.] Regards, JMB Edited 17 April , 2021 by JMB1943

Of course you can use my poem; I should be most honoured. Hopefully my words will gather a good few layers of dust yet before they are called into action. Best regards..
