I have cross checked the records of the ratings that have DSM above their names on the same line, none were awarded the Distinguished service medal. However, I checked out Horatio2 theory that it was intended for the line above and it turned out that every ratings name above the line had indeed been awarded the DSM. Doesn't make sense to me, only confusion. Only the admin person keeping the records at the time knew why! Thanks again to you all for all your help!
