Hi Guys.

I am writing the Corps history and need photos and information related to the the MPSC and Military Warders from 1901 -1950 so if anyone has information and Photos of People who worn the uniforms- Cap Badges and images or details of locations and Military Prisons/ Detention Barracks please help me to build this history.

Any memorabilia or memory’s of those staff would also help.

Regards

Mike

Apart from the two world wars the the corps was always very small as you know Mike and without any museum I doubt that there’s been any ‘system’ to archive anything.

Have you written to all of the Corps Association members?  I imagine that they receive an annual newsletter or even magazine and I would suggest that you enclose with it a short and succinct begging letter explaining what you are aiming to do and asking for photos and anecdotes.  You would probably need to be able to copy the photos and return originals as from my own experience many would ask for that. If you are having problems still with the regimental Secretary you can always write to the Corps Commandant/Colonel seeking his endorsement.  In the past I’ve always found that helps put some weight behind things.

Your correct he doesn’t even open my emails so a bit of a problem on that one.

Best course of action is to write to the Colonel Commandant.  If you've not been rude to Corcoran, and you explain what it is that you're trying to achieve I'll be surprised if he doesn't help you, unless someone else is already writing a history.

In respect of 'details of locations', the following is on the 1911 Census:

Detention Barracks, Commandant's House, Warder's Quarters, Marlborough Lines, Aldershot

One of the men confined, with a less common name, is Sidney Andrew Goss, born 1887. Not all of these men in detention were in regiments based in Aldershot, some will have come from further afield.

Lol I told him he was an embarrassment to the cap badge as he was so negative and unwilling to help

If you remain determined to write the history then I still suggest that you write to the Colonel Commandant.  You really do need access to the Corps Association membership database.
