Matlock1418 Posted 9 April , 2021 Share Posted 9 April , 2021 (edited) In another recent thread involving the KAR @bushfighter identified a NCO Register for 2nd KAR Depot - perhaps he will see this and be able to assist you with something similar. Good luck. :-) M Edited 9 April , 2021 by Matlock1418 add

SteveE Posted 10 April , 2021 Share Posted 10 April , 2021 (edited) King’s African Rifles BWM & Victory Medal Roll (NA ref WO 329/2342} shows that 8344 W.O.II Hill G. served with 3rd King’s Shropshire Light Infantry and 7th King’s African Rifles. The 7th King’s African Rifles consisted of a single battalion (raised in May 1917 from the Zanzibar and Mafia Rifles) and a Depot at Zanzibar. In July 1917 the battalion moved from Zanzibar to Voi and from August 1917 were employed on Line of Communications and coastal garrison duties. The list Matlock1418 alluded to is a nominal roll of European N.C.O.s serving with the K.A.R. in September 1918 and which, if George Hill is mentioned, should identify if he was at the 7th’s Depot or with the 1/7th battalion. There is a war diary available for the 1/7th K.A.R. available from the National Archives here... https://discovery.nationalarchives.gov.uk/details/r/26592100f8634c2baa99d96716025252 which covers their activities from January 1918 onwards.
