In Memoriam (Easter, 1915)

The flowers left thick at nightfall in the wood
This Eastertide call into mind the men,
Now far from home, who, with their sweethearts, should
Have gathered them and will do never again.

Remembering Edward Thomas and all those killed in the Battle of Arras.

Without the friendship and guidance of Edward Thomas  for the three years  Robert Frost lived in England, I very much doubt that Frost would have gone on to be the Poet Laureate of New England and a four time Pulitzer Prize winner.

Frost was devastated by the death of Thomas and wrote the poem, 'E.T.' in 1917, which I read at Edward's grave at Agny
