Trying to ID regimental insignia

Hi All, I am trying to locate war records for a Frederick Clarke and have very little to go on but I do have a photo and wondered if any of you might be able to help narrow down the search by ID'ing the hat insignia to indicate a regiment?  Any help VERY gratefully received.

It’s incredibly distorted, but he could be Artillery. Any chance of a clearer picture please?

I think that it’s a Royal Artillery badge distorted by reflected light.

P.S.  I’ve only just noticed that Michelle, who in my opinion has an excellent eye for cap badges, had already reached the same conclusion.

It looks as though there is a corporal stood behind him (but it could just be folds in the sleeve).

A view of the whole photo might help the experts make a better identification?

....... I'm with the Artillery consensus.  It's amazing that the largest photographic "splodge" is smack bang on the cap badge isn't it.  The not so good news is that there are 40 Gunner Frederick Clarke's with MICs before you even get into the rank permutations and lone initial possibilities.  With no further information the best possibility is perhaps an obscure clue, as BillyH suggests, lurking in the full image ........
