Remembered Today:

Which Regiment for this Manchester man?

Uncle Donald was an employee of the Hugh Stevenson packaging company in Manchester. This is the only picture I have of him c.1914. He spent the early days in France and survived. I cannot distinguish his cap badge , nor the heavy tool hanging on the left of his belt. Can anyone help please?

Can anyone identify this cap badge please? I had thought it would be a Manchester or Salford one but apparently not.

Ah yes  it looks like a lion. Much of his leisure time was spent painting in the Lake District so that figures. I do wonder why he didn't go to the Front with the rest of the workforce from Manchester.      Thank you.
