Hello,

Can anyone advise as to whether the design on WW1 tins of "Soldier's Friend" metal polish differs from those from other periods?

Cheers,

Owain.

The tin's design did not change for the period Boer War to end WW1, but I don't know after that.  There are some details and images here: https://talesfromthesupplydepot.blog/2015/06/02/the-soldiers-friend-metal-polish-tin/

According to the following it did not change in WW2 either: https://historysmc.pastperfectonline.com/webobject/C7EE970C-D41D-4E5D-90DC-876637000552

Hello,

Thanks for the information. The only real difference I see from the links are mainly to the rear of the tin and that the WW2 example does not have the 3d price tag. Can we assume that the priced version is more likely to be contemporary to WW1?

Thanks again,

Owain.
