Uncle George Posted 30 March , 2021 Share Posted 30 March , 2021 An interesting little article from here in God’s own county: “Plans have been approved to repair two historical hangars, once part of an air base where TE Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia, was stationed ... “ https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-devon-56574461

Uncle George Posted 30 March , 2021 Author Share Posted 30 March , 2021 Good Ho!! As long as they flatten the ugly MOD blocs of housing down the road between Plymstock and Jennycliffe as a quid pro quo. Already flattened is much of the estate Fit For Heroes, built in the 20s and known to us as ‘Swilly’ but given the title ‘North Prospect’. Is this a Good Thing? Er, yes. Guest Posted 30 March , 2021 Share Posted 30 March , 2021 My prayers are answered. Thank you for updating me in my exile UG. But if they preserve the sheds, what are they going to do with them? The proposal a while back to convert the reservoir in the King Billy Yard into a multi-story car park suggests that conservation of heritage is not Numero Uno locally. I always have the vision as to what would happen if MOD,say, tried to build a new version of Staddon Heights somewhere twee-like Chiswick where many of the right-on broadcasters live (Close to the Beeb and Sky) or Hampstead. A tad of opposition I fancy. I must be getting on-it only seems like yesterday that Monty was in the City Centre for the official opening.
