Robin Garrett Posted 21 March , 2021 Share Posted 21 March , 2021 I have looked at the LLT for information about Reserve Battalions. My particular interest at the moment is what happened to the 3rd Reserve Battalion of the KSLI after they were sent to Fermoy in 1918. I believe it was absorbed by 2 KSLI in 1919 but have no date. Was this the end of the Reserve Battalions, as I can find no further mention of them. Thanks Robin
Robin Garrett Posted 26 March , 2021 Author Share Posted 26 March , 2021 I have solved the problem. 2 KSLI on posting to Ireland on 25 July 1919 took over New Barracks, Fermoy, which were then occupied by 3 (Special Reserve) Battalion, KSLI. The latter's companies were absorbed by W, X, Y and Z Companies of the Second Battalion. 3rd (Special Reserve) Battalion, KSLI was placed in what became known as "suspended animation" until final abolished in 1953.
