Remembering Lance-Corporal James Eckersley. Reg. number 300247 of 18th Kings Liverpool Regiment, killed in action on 28 March 1918 at Rosieres. Buried in Roye New British Cemetery, France.

 

An able horseman from Ashton-in-Makerfield, serving Lord Gerard and the Lancashire Hussars, prior to enlistment in 1915. He took part in the Somme crossings from St. Quentin in 1918. He died leaving wife Elizabeth (nee Robinson) and baby son Fred Eckersley.
