The original postcard is franked with a 1917 date and sent from an address in the UK.

At that time HMS Baccante was flagshp of the 9th cruiser squadron patrolling the African Coast.

You are probably right, although Bacchante did not take up African duties until mid1917 (according to Wiki). Hard to read month of postmark, but likely 11. So  Sutlej gets the vote although there is nothing to tie the date of the photo with the postmark date.

It’s still only a guess, as a number of the Edwardian era cruiser types all had broadly similar looks.

The photos are indeed superb to see, all appear to be postcards sent to Mrs Frankish by what appears to be more than one sailor over a period of several years.

Is there a possible connection with Withernsea Convalescent Home? - Might Mrs Frankish have worked/volunteered there and perhaps befriended a few of the convalescing sailors (following the sad death of her son)?

Florence Mary Scott Cavell (1867-1950) was Matron of the home (1913-45). She was the sister of Edith Cavell who was executed as an alleged spy by the Germans in 1915.
