Urs Posted 17 February , 2021 Share Posted 17 February , 2021 This man in my family seems to have been attached to the Middlesex Regiment ( as listed with this index card in Fold 3) I wonder if the numbers on the card 100357 and II/M/398168 might help identify when Edmund signed up? Many thanks and all good wishes, Ursula
ss002d6252 Posted 17 February , 2021 Share Posted 17 February , 2021 Not directly a clue in that card, I'm afraid (which isn't unusual on the medal cards) however 100357 is his service number and that can help. #100322 was issued on 09 July 1918 when he was called up. #100415 was issued no later than 24 Sep 1918. If he’d been declared Insane a few years earlier then the effects register would have helped. Craig
Matlock1418 Posted 17 February , 2021 Share Posted 17 February , 2021 11/M/398168 is a regional pension claim reference for a disability so no good for enlistment I'm afraid 11 = London region (unfortunately further records are rarely available) M = a military claim 398168 = claim number :-) M

It's mentioned on the Roll of Honour that his entry came from. 3 minutes ago, Matlock1418 said: 11/M/398168 is a regional pension claim reference for a disability so no good for enlistment I'm afraid 11 = London region (unfortunately further records are rarely available) M = a military claim 398168 = claim number :-) M 17 minutes ago, ss002d6252 said: Not directly a clue in that card, I'm afraid (which isn't unusual on the medal cards) however 100357 is his service number and that can help. #100322 was issued on 09 July 1918 when he was called up. #100415 was issued no later than 24 Sep 1918.
