Pte. J.Clowes 16398 2nd Grenadier Guards.

Recommended Posts

I am researching this soldier who was in the 2and Grenadier Guards and was killed very early on in the war.

Date 14th September 1914.

I would like to find out what the casualties were on that date if possible

I believe it was the battle of Aisne.

Steven

Although the date and address are wrong, this seems to be him. His brother Robert was No.16393, and killed in November 1915.

A good book is Fifteen Rounds A Minute edited by JM Craster. You are right, it is the battle of the Aisne.
