Remembered Today:

Question regarding Canada Section written on cover page

Hello-

Thank you all for this great forum.  During the lockdown pandemic, my cousin and I have been trying to learn more about some of our relatives - two whom served in the Great War.  One, Archibald McDonald (unfortunate common name) we have found most of his military record and he survived.  But we have been unable to track down what he did after the war and before.  I have attached his cover page which has a "Canada Section" written on it.  Am not sure what that means?  Some of his family emigrated from Glasgow to Canada but we were not sure that he did.

Hoping that someone could enlighten us.

Thanks again for all your interest.

Dixie

It means that the pension claimant, at some point, was either in the USA or Canada (both dealt with via Canada Section until after the war).

MQG12855 was a discharge reference used for pension purposes in 1918/1919 for the RAMC.

His pension records should have an OS number somewhere for the overseas claim.

Thank you for this information.  It is helpful!

Would there be a separate section for Australia - family lore is that he settled there?

Thank you again!

It would be dealt with by separate section, yes.
