Remembered Today:

10th Battalion company organisation 8 to 4 help

Hello,

My soldier was originally in H Company and was part of the first lot of troops making up the 10th Battalion AIF.  In January 1915 they were reorganised into 4 Companies and I believe he became part of the C Company.  I've been trying to clarify this and can't find anything on line regarding the re-organisation of the company's.  This section of the 10th Battalion's war diary is unfortunately missing also.

Does anyone know more about which Company's became which?  I've only found one note in his file with C Company which is something at least,

Tam

Mate,

Hopefully some one with more can tell you but on checking the unit Histories of the Bn's of the 3rd Bde only the 12Bn gives what companies they changed to, which does not help you with the 10Bn?

The change happened on the 1 Jan 1915 although the 10Bn gives the date as the 2 Jan 1915.

from the 12Bn

A and C Companies formed ACo

B and D Companies formed BCo

E and F Companies formed CCo

G and H companies formed DCo

I am sorry but what the 10th did needs more checking.

That's how I thought it would have happened with the 10th too (I had researched a 12th Battalion man recently and came across this info).  However since messaging the forum earlier today I've discovered a few men from H Company (and many from Broken Hill) became part of the C Company.  So it seems to fit, not sure of the logic behind it though....

Thanks!
