Gradelymon Posted 2 January , 2021 Share Posted 2 January , 2021 Thomas Arnold Turner - my late uncle. (185620) His service record indicates that he transferred to the RAF on 25 May 1918. He was stationed at RNAS Killingholme from 25 Oct 1918 and then transferred to an unidentified station on 27 March 2019. Can anyone identify the place to which he was transferred (column "Unit to which"). I can't read it clearly. Thanks.
horatio2 Posted 2 January , 2021 Share Posted 2 January , 2021 (edited) Welcome to the GWF. I cannot make out the posting (Possibly RAF Heaton Park ?). However, you need to amend your topic heading - this is not Royal Naval Air Service (RNAS) but RAF. He was RAF KILLINGHOLME. The RNAS did not exist after 31 Mar 1918. Admin DavidOwen Posted 2 January , 2021 Admin Share Posted 2 January , 2021 Is it possible that the entry for 27/3/19 is to a Discharge / Dispersal Centre (Dis Cen) possibly Heanor (if one was there)? Based on his transfer to RAF Reserve on 25/4/19 (checked his original record on FMP) Edit: based on LLT It could be Heaton Park? https://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/army/other-aspects-of-order-of-battle/dispersal-units-for-demobilisation-purposes-1918-1920/ although Killingholme is likely to be out of area? Gradelymon Posted 2 January , 2021 Author Share Posted 2 January , 2021 Dispersal Centre, Heaton Park (which I have found online) sounds right. Many thanks to you all for your help.
Gradelymon Posted 3 January , 2021 Author Share Posted 3 January , 2021 Elsewhere on his service record it says: Transferred to A.S.B. 8 Feb 1918. What does ASB mean?
