davidbohl Posted 30 December , 2020 Share Posted 30 December , 2020 Private Frederick Evans #24231 King's Liverpool CWGC He was aged 27 and the only son of Jack Evans, of Liverpool, and the late Ellen Evans. Difficult to pin this chap down, nothing in the papers and a near miss with the census record from FamilySearch 1911 attached, but father is Richard in 1901. Can we find any clues to Id him please? Thanks Dave

Alisonmallen62 Posted 30 December , 2020 Share Posted 30 December , 2020 (edited) Looks like Richard had died by 1911 census as Ellen was a widow so trying to find out if he was referred to as Jack rather than Richard - middle name possibly Edited 30 December , 2020 by Alisonmallen62 Pressed submit in error

davidbohl Posted 30 December , 2020 Author Share Posted 30 December , 2020 Hugh W. Evans had an elder brother John who married Margaret Eleanor Fisher in 1889, they were both in their 40's. She must be Frederick's mother "Ellen".

davidbohl Posted 30 December , 2020 Author Share Posted 30 December , 2020 I discounted the family with father Richard. John is sometimes known as Jack.
Alisonmallen62 Posted 30 December , 2020 Share Posted 30 December , 2020 (edited) Yes we have John in the family known as Jack but I saw that there was a Hugh and John who were on crew lists so just wondered if on the newspaper account Jack was a nickname - long shot! And confusing lol Edited 30 December , 2020 by Alisonmallen62
