A very long shot here,Giles, but is there any chance he changed a MM,for a Croix De Geurre?

I have a relative who was entitled to wear a French Croix as a kind of unit citation for an action in 1918.

There were a couple of British Regiments that were given this medal,as a unit,i believe, and it being the equivalent of the British MM,i wonder if there was a Lincolnshire Battalion that recieved the same.

Maybe this guy prefered the MM ribbon.

Shot in the dark, over open sights,in a gale force wind,i know, but stranger things have happened at sea.

All the best.

Simon.

Simon,

Thanks for the reply, I think you will know much more than me on this. However, the recommendation letter does specifically refer to Mr Lazarus and his deed so I guess it is not the answer! :)
