Remembered Today:

Pte F.A. Wilson

Recommended Posts

Been going through family possessions and have come across 2 medals, and some writing from Pte. F.A. WILSON, these do not belong to our family and were apparently found when a drawer unit was bought many years ago and forgotten about until we were tidying today.

We would like to get them returned to the rightful family.

His regiment details:

If they are Great War medals  they should also have a service number before the name and a regiment after the name. With these details it will be possible to identify the man they were awarded to.

Tasha the two medals will have the recipient's details (number, rank, name,

& regiment\corps) impressed on their rims.

If you could post those details here that might assist in obtaining some information on the recipient.

From the Royal Marines Section of the Naval Medal & Award Roll on ancestry he is:

Private Frank A Wilson, Royal Marines, Service Number Deal 11978/S. Awarded British war Medal & Victory Medal.

The Naval Silver War Badge Records on ancestry add:

WILSON F.A.  11978.   Pte RML ?C     Silver War Badge no 15166 issued 15.9.17   Issued by RM Deal.   No other notes & the badge is not noted as being refused or returned.

This is the part I could not read, my best guess is Royal Marines Light Infantry:
