Further to my last post can you please explain the process for joining the Battalion? He disembarked at Boulogne on 10/7/17; then he joined base Depot at Calais on 11/7/17; then joined unit on 29/7/17 and finally joined battalion on 30/8/17. What would he have been doing from 11/7 to 29/7? What would he have been doing from 29/7 to 30/8? Also, what is the difference between the unit and the battalion? I know that he was with the Anson Battalion. Thanks in advance for any help you can give me re my Great Uncle's record.
