I have a piece of trench art I am trying to find a bit of history on. All I have are some alpha numeric  being: 1917 No. 13 D C P 75 m 38-26

Its so I can give it to my god daughter (Alice) with some feeling attached. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you.

It would be helpful if you could take a photo of the head of the case showing the various markings. Someone then will no doubt be able to decode them for you.

(At a first pass there is a good chance that it is a 75mm gun cartridge case made for Belgium in Canada by the Dominion Copper Products Co., Ltd, Montreal in 1917. It is likely the No.13 is the Lot number and 38-26 is the batch of brass, but an image of the head should help clarify.)
