Grovetown Posted 26 February , 2005 Share Posted 26 February , 2005 If a man was in an RF battalion of the London Regiment, would he be shown - on an MIC say - as RF or Londons? Alternatively, if a man is shown as RF (only) on his MIC; could he have been a member of an RF Bn of the London Regiment. Rgds, Grovetown.
Paul Reed Posted 26 February , 2005 Share Posted 26 February , 2005 If he was in the 1st - 4th Battalions of the London Regiment (Royal Fusiliers) then he will be shown as such; likewise if he was in the Royal Fusiliers then he will be shown as such. These are two seperate units. If he was attached from one to the other very often that is recorded in the Medal Rolls in WO329 rather than the MICs. Grovetown Posted 27 February , 2005 Author Share Posted 27 February , 2005 Thanks very much Paul - that makes perfect sense. I had wondered if the London RF were eccentric in this, preferring and able to identify with the parent; in a similar way to the HAC being able to resist numbering. Regards, Grovetown.
