TEW Posted 1 September , 2020 Share Posted 1 September , 2020 Can anyone look at WO339/27099 for Maj. William Henry Hunter ASC? There is a William Henry Hunter buried in local cemetery Devon), died 1945. This man has (Military Cross) after his name rather than a normal post-nominal of M.C. There is a Capt. WHH ASC who got a New Year's MC 1918. I don't need the whole file, just something to be able to link the 339 record to the headstone below. Perhaps by wife's name or age? Thanks TEW
Terry_Reeves Posted 2 September , 2020 Share Posted 2 September , 2020 (edited) TEW Marriage record: William Henry Hunter, age 46 , batchelor, civil engineer, married Isabella Charlotte Smith age 22 at St Pancras Parish Church, Camden, London on 25 October 1927. Their ages match up to the headstone. That of course causes a problem with his personal file as he was unmarried during his military service, assuming it is him. TEW Posted 3 September , 2020 Author Share Posted 3 September , 2020 Thanks, so assuming the WO339 and headstone are the same man the only likely link would be his age. Doubt very much that Middle Rocombe would feature. TEW
