Remembered Today:

A mystery photo from Great Aunt’s photo album

If anyone can glean any information from the uniforms in the photograph I would appreciate it. Any information at all would be helpful.

I came across the photograph in an album belonging to a long deceased relative. There is no explanation as to who the men were. Obviously the photo is in bad condition and unfortunately it is glued into the album, so I cannot read the back. I am assuming the men are British Army and it is WW1 vintage but that is the extent of my knowledge. Any thoughts welcome.

Thanks in advance

Sitting soldier has darkish buttons, so may belong to a regiment/battalion following the traditions of the Rifle Brigade or KRR. Standing soldier's  lanyard may indicate Royal Artillery and his putties appear to be wound top to bottom which is good for  working with horses, may also be ASC.

Next opinion please!

The identity of the long deceased relative (with any other details available) might help a search for likely family members.

I will echo both comments and add that there appears to be a tiered shoulder title on the probable infantryman.

Scan of the back would be good. Lots of forum members are able to read the illegible.

May be a close up scan/photograph of the shoulder of the seated man (his right shoulder) to see if the metal shoulder title is any clearer. I think he may have been in a Fusilier Regiment (Transport section due to the way his puttees are tied in the mounted fashion) - but which Fusilier Regiment!
