This altimeter was usez mainly on board of observation planes and ballons to maintain a constant altitude when taking aerial pictures ( same scale) and artillery observation. The springs ( top and bottom of the box ) are supposed to absorb violent movements . Mos notable point is the supposed unit mark "A.E. 7A" mark in white paint on top of the box. Did somebody knows the signification of this mark ? Thanks in advance for your help. Gabelou

The 'AE' on the box possibly might relate to it being used on that type of balloon. Mike

egbert Posted 7 January , 2021 Share Posted 7 January , 2021 I guess you may find answers here. Also you can use the attached link for a specialist forum to repeat your question. There seem to be a bunch of experts on Höhenmesser.
Gabelou Posted 9 January , 2021 Author Share Posted 9 January , 2021 Hallo Egbert and many thinks for your precious advise. I already found the same Hohenmesser from Anton Hott in this Deutcheluftwaffe site. I just register before asking the unit's identification question.
