Remembered Today:

Meaning of remarks on medal card

My grandfather's medal card has the comment 2/RES.4-7-19 in the "Remarks" section. Can anyone explain what this means?

He was a driver in the ASC, and his service number was M2/054686. I know "M" means motor section, but does the rest of the number have any significance, such as company number?

Apologies if these are basic questions, but I haven't seen anything to explain this elsewhere.

Sarah

Could the 2 be a Z?

If so then it could be it stands for Class Z Army Reserve and he went to this on 4 July 1919.

I believe the website the 'Long Long Trail' explains Class Z.

If not come back to me and I will dig out some info on it.
