Dazscuba Posted 9 August , 2020 Share Posted 9 August , 2020 I am looking at Pte 41675 Percy Spivey who joined in 1917 it mentions on his service record 1sT Herts Reg and then Bedfordshire Reg later on. Is this the same regiment? trying to find the war diary on ancestry for 22/3/1918 as this is when he was taken prisoner by the Germans. I can find Herts Reg diary and Bedfordshire Reg diary but not for the time peRiod above.

Beds & Hert War Diaries 21 March 1918,first battle of the Somme, Battle for St Quentin.. 22nd heavily bombarded and had to retire to Buffu, 24 March their Lieut Colonel ECM Philips was captured, I take it your man must have been amongst prisoners or taken on the 23. the 1st and 2nd Herts volunteers were absorbed into the Beds
