Remembered Today:

Vickers 1913 bayonet

Shadow,

Welcome to the GWF.

You have a somewhat rare bayonet here.

Vickers made only 1500 of these in early 1917 (yours is 2  '17) before switching to the Patt. 1907, of which they made 10,000.

This one is only the second that I have seen.

In terms of value, the rarity bumps it up considerably over a Vickers P. 1907, but the condition lowers it a little.

A little TLC (NOT drastic cleaning, but bronze wool / light machine oil to remove surface rust; light treatment with linseed oil on the grips) NO sharpening, would improve it cosmetically for sale.

For value, use Google to find sales of Vickers P.1907 and P.1913 and go from there.

Regards,

JMB

Greetings from Sherwood Forest.

JMB is right , these Vickers Pattern 1913 bayonets are very rare . I have only seen two in 60 years and I own both of them.

You have a very nice find.

is that a c broad arrow stamped there??

No - the letter V within the C refers to the Vickers factory at Crayford in Kent where it was made.
