depaor01 Posted 31 July , 2020 Share Posted 31 July , 2020 I know this is a perennial subject but I was surprised to see today an episode where Jones is wearing his mounted set. It looked a bit sparse to me... This prompted a trip to the Extensive Library which yielded this: Corporal Jones of Dad's Army wears... The Egyptian Medal (1882-89), The India Medal (1895-1902), The Queen's Sudan Medal (1896-97), The Queen's South Africa Medal (1899-1902), The King's South Africa Medal (1901-02), The India General Service Medal (1908-35), The 1914 Star, The British War Medal (1914-20), The Allied Victory Medal (1914-18), the Edward VII Army Long Service Medal, The Khedive's Egyptian Star (1882-89) and the Khedive's Sudan Medal (1896-1908). List Courtesy of David Downs (member of the Orders and Medals Research Society), Reading, Berks Possibly the definitive list. Unless...??? Steven Broomfield Posted 1 August , 2020 Share Posted 1 August , 2020 Given that he veered from Royal Warwicks at the beginning to West Kents later (and Fraser morphed from running a philately shop to being an undertaker), I fear continuity wasn't the programme's strong point. headgardener Posted 1 August , 2020 Share Posted 1 August , 2020 So, the medals he's wearing in the OP look nothing like that list. Any ideas about what's there? Looks to me like: 1. ????? 2. QSA 3x bar 3. AGS 2x bar 4. ????? 5. IGS 6. ?????

Dragoon Posted 2 August , 2020 Share Posted 2 August , 2020 It's the wrong LS&GC medal ribbon for Edward VII, it was all crimson til 1916 when the white stripes were introduced. So he should be wearing the all crimson ribbon given the medals before it. Chris
