Guest Posted 17 July , 2020 Share Posted 17 July , 2020 (edited) Just to alert GWF colleagues of a new scholarly book published in May, viz: Quite heavyweight stuff on how British railway experts helped out on the Western Front. . Looks to be very well researched and definitive. And, colleagues, any/all of it is available FREE through the Institute of Historical Research website (Go to Publications, then New Perspectives and follow link to download, usually by chapter. Not often you get owt for nowt. Be happy Edited 17 July , 2020 by Guest

ilkley remembers Posted 24 July , 2020 Share Posted 24 July , 2020 (edited) The author, Chris Phillips did create a thread about his book back in April/May but unfortunately I cannot find it and it appears to have been deleted. The book was at that time available for free on Jstor and I seem to remember posting a review of the book by way of another thread. Anyway its quite an interesting read and its very pleasing to see an author prepared to allow free access.
