I have tried to find a war diary at the National Archives for the XIII Corps. Is there one? If so could someone please, provide me with the reference.

Thanks very much- obviously using Roman numerals, is not the way to browse.

It's quite annoying, I often can't find things either because of this, only after browing a bit, I am remembered that numerals are arabic instead of roman as they should be...

However, the system for whatever reason will not let me open the diary for July 1916.

For what it's worth, I gave up trying to log in, search, and download anything over the weekend and the beginning of this week; nothing worked. Probably related to system updates (there was a warning banner to that effect on the TNA main site). But no problems today. Access etc. was quick and seamless, so hopefully everything's sorted out.

May be of use, have you seen the book Zero hour, z day XIII corps operations around Maricourt ? A huge book, loads of great information, written by Jonathan Porter, well worth a read ?
