Thatww1pigeon Posted 12 July , 2020 Share Posted 12 July , 2020 Hi everyone. Here I’ve got a German 1918 Hugo Heinkel Belt. Above the 1918 the letters DXI? Also curious about this belt, a bit on the small end for a military belt? Thanks.

German equipment used short leather straps for various purposes, notably securing the mess tins to the pack, and rolling the greatcoat. This looks like it could be one of these:
Thatww1pigeon Posted 13 July , 2020 Author Share Posted 13 July , 2020 It possibly could be used for that purpose, judging by the belt being smaller and more skinnier than the normal belts used around the waist.
Jaeger6 Posted 13 July , 2020 Share Posted 13 July , 2020 It seems that there is a T in front of the D. The Bekleidungsamt (Clothing Office) marked all clothes with the number of the office it came from, like B.A.XIII for Bekleidungsamt 13. I'm not sure but I guess that the T.D.XI has a similar meaning like Technischer Dienst (technical service) or Transportdepot (logistics depot). AOK4 is a specialist here who will know more. AOK4 Posted 15 July , 2020 Share Posted 15 July , 2020 It might help if you would give us the measurements of the belt. Anyway, I found out it came from ebay. There I noticed it is 111 cm long, which is very long even for a waistbelt. I have seen soldiers wearing similar waistbelts. I doubt that these were marked as they were not official (and it's too long anyway). I did find a Kummet- und Geschirrsattlerei Hugo Henkel (the marking is HENKEL not HEINKEL) in Arnstadt, which is not far from Neustadt. I wonder whether the marking shouldn't be Neustadt as the first part seems very faint. I don't know the exact meaning of TD, but I have seen it before. A possibility would be Traindepot or Traindepot-Direktion. This would also be logical as this belt would probably be from a horse's equipment. Just my loose ideas.
