Can some one explain why my Dad has two Regt Nos and letters before them.

ASC: M/374215 and ASC: EMT/ 46383.

If it's of any help he was Maltese.

Thanking You

Paul

Hello Paul

I do not believe him being Maltese has any significance in this case.

M prefix = "Mechanical Transport", so he was in the part of the ASC operating trucks.

EM and ET prefixes were issed for post-war re-enlistments, for mechanical and horsed transport respectively.

EMT, I'm not so sure.

It looks as though he may have had two distinct periods of service.

Hi Chris

Thanks for that. I may have to rethink when he came to Australia in light of possible two periods of service.

I was assuming he came out straight after the war [the best I know he was here by 1928.
