iainbrown5 Posted 4 July , 2020 Share Posted 4 July , 2020 I have been going through the war diary for 1st Battalion Royal Scots Fusiliers and there is an attack on 2nd September 1918 which focuses on the area around Noreuil. My great grandfather was injured during this attack (when machine gun fire shattered his arm). My question is what "Battle" would this action fall under? Would it be described as the Battle of Bapaume which was fought at a similar time nearby? Best wishes Iain
Donald D Posted 5 July , 2020 Share Posted 5 July , 2020 According to LLT, yes it would. http://www.longlongtrail.co.uk/battles/battles-of-the-western-front-in-france-and-flanders/the-second-battles-of-the-somme-1918/
